Not much time anymore

Sorry for the users (if there are any), that were confused why i didn’t post any information in the past few weeks, and didn’t provided any updates for my (released) Addons.
In the last weeks happened much, i’m going to School again!
The good news are i’m finally learning programming for real, not just reading and trying to understand, like i did with Lua. I’m learning Java for those who wondered.

My work is from 10:00 to 14:00, then i have to catch my train to get to school. When i’m back home it is like 23:00+/- 1h, so you see i really have not much time anymore, but my Account is still active, and i’m reworking my UI, mainly because after getting a bit into Java, i noticed how much fun Lua really is :P

I hope i will get some time to update/fix my Addons, mainly lolTip >_>

Lack of communication, ideas

Today i got only 2 FeatureRequests done.

The most time i spent on finding ways to get things done the ay i want it.
They are:
-lolTip configurable with the GUI i’m working on
-custom settings without saved variables

It is a difficult task to add the GUI, because this is completely new to me, and i have to get the GUI communicate with the custom settings.
Once i accomplished this, i can finally start for real and think about the Layout for the GUI’s panels and functions.

There will be most likely this four menu-points as the config is more or less subdivided in this four points. I really like the method with the mouseovertooltip-explainations. This is a blessing to save space and make a nice and easy to use GUI.

Also i have some ideas in my mind, that are hopeful realizable for me. I often do have some ideas that are (at least for me) really great but just not doable because of my lack of skills (mind i’m learning lua by doing such Addons).
One of this ideas is a EditBox where you can define what text on the HealthBar should be shown. Example: You type in >>”%.0f%%”, min*100/max<< and the healthbartext would show percentagevalues.
Aditonal there would be "presets". (the ones already built in, this one would be a preset as well as it is present in lolTip as of now)

Any suggestions or improvement-ideas for the GUI, while i'm not finished with it? Leave a comment and i write it to the "possible additions"-list ;)

I was very inactive the last week(s), i know.
I just had some things on RL get done, and on top of that didn’t felt working on lolTip, as selfish as this sounds ;X

Well, today i wrote a list with featurerequests and bugs been reported and started finxing things and stuff.
An annoying bug when using Questhelper and QueTip should be gone, but QueTip seems it doesn’t like lolTip. The Tooltip has the features of both, but the skinning is removed, and this looks stupid as hell, imo. But i have more important things to do, so i just started with an idea i had for quite a time, and now someone requested it: a GUI!

I never intended to do something like a GUI for lolTip as i hate bloated things, but the Lua-config is stuffed and not clearly-presented anymore, so a gui came up to my mind. But to anyone fearing that this will increase the size to an endless amount – NO, it will be built in as a module, and loaded only when you type /loltip so it shouldn’t be a problem at all. Also this is complete nex to me, i’m kinda excited :P I just hope i get it done without saved variables, but according to Cargor’s Blog there is a snippet to avoid saved variables with some sort of metatables. (YAY :P)
I also think about leaving the lua config besides the GUI, wich would be fitting in good when stuff work out as i hope to do.

    Getting started with PvP, lolTip heavy bug

    I didn’t have much time to play very much lately and do not really have it, but yesterday i kind of “started” PvP.

    The Medallion of the Horde is now mine, and i finally managed to get Alterac Valley All-Star Achievement after trying for 3 days. Thanks for the Ally who let me tap Snowfall :P

    Recently i was reported from a friend i’m Playing with, Cargor, that he expirienced a heavy drop of framerates wich was gone away after a /rl, but stated it was whenever he mouseovered anything.

    As i got another report on WoWInterface, i think it’s the mouseoveranchor, but it can be it’s out of a pure case.

    Not my day..

    You know these days you think like – why did i go out of my bed? Today is one of these.

    At first time at work passed by really slowly.
    Then i went into shower (i’m working from my computer at home :P), and just as i was under the water, i got nose bleed. You know how.. weird and stupid it is when you want to shower and just keep getting drops of blood on your arms while washing?

    After that, the lolTip i released had a bug, i could easily have avoided if i just waited one more day till the release, because if you had not installed Phanx’s Class Colors Addon, an error popped up. And i do not have this Addon in my forlder normally, just had it because of the request to add support for it.

    I had like 30 minutes left to fix that bug, and thought i did, so i uploaded lolTip 2.1.1, then went to the (RL) train, just to notice: “Hey, i did forget my Money pocket!”
    It wouldn’t be that bad, if i hadn’t go back at home, besides a country road, pass through a little field, shined on by the hot sun.

    Sooo i was back at home, already a *bit* mad about the day, when my father came to visit, and looked at my Mountain Bike – it has a flat. I thought pumping it up would be it, but he said the valve gear is broken..

    Then i saw loltip wasn’t fully fixed, and i’m now hoping it is now ;O

    At least my mashed potatoes were yummy =P

    Getting Started

    The last time, i ever thought about doing a blog, but never really did.. until now ;)
    I will write about my Addons, thoughts about them and maybe some other things, but we will see.

    So, what is a first post without anything interesting? lolTip!
    Yesterday i was awake untill 1:00 in the mornig, so i am a bit tired now, but it was worth it. I wanted to add a new module to demonstrate the “power” of the modules, and how nice the Tooltip can be modified for everyone, just by activating some modules he or she wants.
    The new modlue adds up to 40 (the most possible through the API) buffs from the mouseovered target.

    As you can see, the Tooltip shows exactly the buffs i have on my char.
    In the module itself there is a little config where things like size, position and filters can be set. At default the maximum buffs shown are 8.
    I left out charges on the Tooltipbuffs, because you could’t read them anyways at this size.

    Actually the module was easier to create than i first thought, kind of good and dissapointing at the same time =P

    Now the new module just needs a bit testing before i’ll release it with a bunch of new features, that will push the version to 2.1.
